+ VERTICAL PRODUCT AD GUIDE

How to create a 9:16 product ad from one photo.

Use one clean product image to build a vertical creative with room for a hook, price, benefits, branding, and a clear call to action.

Create a 9:16 ad

01 / PLAN THE MESSAGE

Decide what the viewer should understand first

A vertical product ad has more height than width. That makes it useful for phone-first placements, but it also makes weak hierarchy obvious. Start with one message: a launch, a discount, one core benefit, or a reason to act now. Do not make the product name, price, three benefits, logo, and call to action compete at the same visual weight.

A reliable order is hook first, product second, proof or price third, and call to action last. The exact placement can change with the template, but the viewer should still know what is being sold within a moment.

Prepare these five items
  • One high-resolution product photo.
  • A short product name or campaign hook.
  • A verified price or promotion.
  • Up to three concise benefits.
  • A direct call to action such as Shop now or Learn more.

02 / BUILD THE CREATIVE

Create the vertical layout in Product Creative Generator

  1. Upload the product photo.

Use a PNG, JPG, or WebP image with clear edges and enough resolution for a 1080 × 1920 export.

  2. Remove the background when useful.

Background removal helps the product fit different layouts. Keep the original background when it is part of the product story or provides important scale.

  3. Choose a template.

Select a design whose hierarchy fits the campaign. A bold sale layout suits urgency; a minimal or editorial template leaves more room for premium positioning.

  4. Add brand and offer details.

Enter the brand name, product name, subtitle, price, benefits, and call to action. Upload your logo when it improves recognition.

  5. Select the 9:16 ratio.

Open Export and choose the Story / Reel 9:16 preset. PETENG prepares a 1080 × 1920 canvas and keeps the main elements proportional to the selected template.

03 / REFINE

Protect the product and the safe area

Check that the product is not clipped, stretched, or covered by text. Leave breathing room around important edges such as handles, packaging corners, hair, glass, or thin accessories. Keep essential copy away from the extreme top and bottom, where social interfaces can overlap a creative.

Use contrast intentionally. A light product may need a darker or more saturated background; dark packaging often benefits from a lighter surface or a controlled highlight. If you upload a custom background, make sure it supports the product instead of becoming a second subject.

ElementRecommended treatment
HookOne short line that explains the offer or benefit.
ProductLarge enough to recognize without hiding its shape.
PriceUse only when current and accurate.
BenefitsOne to three brief, verifiable statements.
CTAA clear next action, not a vague slogan.

04 / EXPORT

Choose the right output and inspect it at phone size

Use PNG when sharp text and transparency matter, JPG for a smaller photographic file, or WebP for efficient web delivery. Open the exported creative on a phone before publishing. Check legibility, edge quality, logo size, price accuracy, and whether the CTA remains visible without zooming.

Save a clean master before adapting the same campaign to 1:1, 4:5, or 16:9. The generator can produce those ratios, but each version still deserves a quick visual inspection.

05 / QUESTIONS

9:16 product ad questions

What size does PETENG use for a 9:16 creative?

The Story / Reel preset exports at 1080 × 1920 pixels.

Can one product photo work across multiple ratios?

Yes. Start with a clean, sufficiently large source and inspect the product placement separately in every output ratio.

Should every product image have its background removed?

No. Remove it when isolation improves the layout. Keep an original scene when context, scale, or authenticity matters.

Ready when you are.
