01 / CHOOSE THE SOURCE
Start with an image the model can separate clearly
Background removal works best when the main product is in focus and visually distinct from its surroundings. Use the highest-quality original you have. Compression artifacts, motion blur, harsh reflections, and a background with the same color as the product can make the edge less reliable.
Leave some space around the item when shooting. A product that touches the image border gives an automatic tool less information about its full shape. Even lighting also helps preserve labels, packaging edges, and small accessories.
- A complete product visible inside the frame.
- Sharp edges and readable labels.
- Even lighting without blown highlights.
- Clear separation between product and background.
- Enough resolution for the final export size.
02 / REMOVE
Create the cutout in Product Creative Generator
- Open Product Creative Generator.
Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP product image within the limit shown by the tool.
- Run background removal.
Use the AI removal action and wait for the processed product preview.
- Inspect the full outline.
Zoom in mentally and visually on thin parts, transparent packaging, soft fabric, hair, reflective metal, and shadows. These are common areas where any automatic cutout can need a different source photo.
- Choose the new setting.
Use a built-in color, the original template background, or a custom image. Match the setting to the purpose of the creative.
- Export and review.
Select the ratio and format, download the result, and inspect the real exported file rather than relying only on the editor preview.
03 / CHECK THE EDGES
Look for the mistakes viewers notice first
Check for a pale halo from the old background, missing product pieces, jagged curves, holes inside handles, and shadows that end abruptly. Place the cutout temporarily on both a light and dark background; edge problems that disappear on one color often become obvious on the other.
| Product type | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Glass or transparent packaging | Interior transparency, highlights, and label edges. |
| Jewelry or metal | Reflections and thin chains or clasps. |
| Clothing or fabric | Loose fibers, folds, and soft boundaries. |
| Bottles and boxes | Straight corners, cap edges, and small printed text. |
If the result is poor, try a sharper source with simpler lighting before repeatedly processing the same weak photo. A better source often improves the cutout faster than a complicated correction.
04 / CHOOSE A FORMAT
Export for the next step in your workflow
Choose PNG when you need a transparent product asset or crisp graphic edges. Choose JPG when the final image has a solid background and file size matters. WebP is useful for efficient delivery on modern websites. Confirm that transparency has been preserved when that is the reason you selected PNG.
For ads, continue in the generator and build the final campaign creative around the cutout. Add accurate product copy, a current price, brand elements, and a clear call to action, then export the ratio required by the placement.
05 / QUESTIONS
Background removal questions
Why did part of my product disappear?
The missing area may be too similar to the original background, transparent, blurred, or poorly lit. Try a source photo with clearer separation.
Which format keeps a transparent background?
Use PNG. JPG does not preserve transparency.
Should marketplace images always use white?
Requirements vary by marketplace, category, and image position. Check the current rules for the specific platform before publishing.
